Biography
Rick develops plans for committed and enthusiastic colleagues who have a passion for their design and attention to detail. He utilises Autodesk Civil3D 2012, Autotrack 9.20 vehicle swept path analysis and ESRI ArcMap 10 software for GIS work.
Rick graduated in 1993 with a diploma in Civil Engineering from Coventry University and worked as a structural engineer (1995-2005), which proves valuable to his CAD work as he understands and questions projects with an engineering mentality. Rick migrated to New Zealand in 2005 and since joining ViaStrada in 2008, he has specifically been involved with transportation. Rick is well acquainted with traffic engineering through developing CAD plans of various designs (e.g. Te Okuroa Drive in Tauranga) and his work on the MOTSAM improvements for NZTA. He uses Autotrack software for the design of intersections and other manoeuvring spaces, and assisted with a tracking trial for a project in Kaiapoi. Rick uses GIS for statistical and spatial analysis of data.
As a keen cyclist Rick has valuable experience in using the Christchurch network. His daily commuting keeps up his fitness levels, helping to ensure podium placings in corporate bike racing events.
