ViaStrada Nelson Office

In a move that bucks the current economic climate, ViaStrada has opened a Nelson office by merging with a local planning and resource management consultancy, Quickfall Associates Ltd on 2 March 2009. The new ViaStrada office will service the "top of the south" region of the South Island.

Two ViaStrada Teams win Le Race

ViaStrada entered both a men's and a women's team in the three-person team category of this year's Le Race, the iconic cycle race from Christchurch to Akaroa. And both teams brought home first prize in their categories. Congratulations!

Projects

Resource consent secured for $120m redevelopment

Resource consent has been approved for the $120m redevelopment of the former Feltex Carpets factory site in Ilam, Christchurch.  A decision on the application prepared by ViaStrada was issued on January 29, 2009 and with no appeals to the Environment Court, the path is clear for detailed design and construction of the development.

Ashburton Pre-school

ViaStrada staff appeared at a Ashburton District Council hearing for a 45 child pre-school on an existing residential property in suburban Ashburton. ViaStrada staff provided expert planning and traffic planning evidence to an Independent Commissioner, who subsequently issued Resource Consent in October 2008.

Events

ViaStrada wins Bike Wise Business Battle

ViaStrada has won the overall Bike Wise Business Battle for nationwide organisations. Across our offices in Auckland, Christchurch and Dunedin, we achieved a 100% staff participation rate. You can't do better than that!

7^th New Zealand Cycling Conference

New Plymouth has been confirmed as the venue for the 7^th New Zealand Cycling Conference. The conference will be held on 12 and 13 November 2009.

Transportation Conference

There will not be an IPENZ Transportation Conference in 2009. The Transportation Group management committee has decided that the next conference will be held in March 2010.

Publications

Basic Noise Terminology

This presentation introduces the basic terminology of noise with particular reference to the performance standards in District Plans. Russell Malthus was asked by the conference organisers to prepare this overview for the benefit of the attending Environmental Health Officers from around NZ.
