Traffic Engineering
ViaStrada undertakes traffic engineering projects for local councils and private clients including the design of intersections (such as traffic signals and roundabouts), safety audits, peer reviews and transport policy and research.

Traffic Engineering Standards
ViaStrada provides advice on traffic engineering design manuals on both sides of the Tasman. Our engineers are well known nationally for their expertise in walking and cycling design. They have provided advice on engineering design manuals in both NZ and Australia. We also have been involved in the refinement of general road design and intersection standards, guidelines and manuals.

Transport Planning and Policy
We develop strategies and policy documents for national and local government, and work with private clients on significant developments. Our emphasis and edge over others is our underlying philosophy of sustainability. Most of our staff walk, cycle or bus to work - we walk the talk.

Training and Research
ViaStrada provides continuing professional development training, including planning and design courses for walking and cycling and "SIDRA Intersection" workshops. We undertake transport research for national agencies.

Resource Management
ViaStrada provides professional resource management and town planning advice and assistance in the residential, rural, retail, commercial, industrial and utility sectors. This has predominantly included the preparation or assessment of land use consent, plan change or notice of requirement or designation applications and the presentation of evidence at Environment Court and council hearings. We work for both public and private sector clients.

Planning
In addition to resource management, planning is also undertaken by ViaStrada, including master and strategic planning, consultation, advice on development contributions, and the development of bylaws.

RMA - Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering
ViaStrada is able to provide comprehensive Traffic Impact Assessments (TIAs) to support plan change or resource consent applications. Associated traffic-related services include: road, intersection and site design and parking demand and trip generation surveys.

Environmental Health
ViaStrada undertakes assessments of noise, hazardous substances, and other environmental impacts associated with land use developments, both for councils and private clients. These are usually in the context of district plan changes or resource consent applications.
